Cordell
W. Riley, M.Sc.
Managing Director
Mr. Riley is Managing Director of Profiles of Bermuda, a company he founded in 1998. Throughout his working life, Mr. Riley has always taken an analytical career path. He began as a Management Trainee at what is now the Fairmont Southampton. He then moved to the Department of Tourism where he was the Market Research Officer for nearly a decade. While there he distinguished himself as a leading authority on Tourism, publishing a number of articles and speaking at several international conferences. From Tourism, he moved to the Department of Statistics as the Research Statistician. He continued his interest in Tourism and while at Statistics he was co-developer of the Visitor Price Index, an index similar to the Consumer Price Index but measuring the changes in prices of goods and services purchased primarily by visitors. Also while he was at Statistics, Mr. Riley introduced forecasting techniques which resulted in the first forecast of jobs to be included in the annual Employment Survey.
In 2005, Mr. Riley was commissioned by the Caribbean Community (Caricom) to write a statistical report on Bermuda, his first international project under the Profiles banner.
Mr. Riley’s interest in the human development and performance field continued when, in 1997, he was encouraged by Profiles Internationals to represent them in Bermuda. Mr. Riley’s background as a researcher and statistician made him an excellent fit for an industry that uses psychometric software to develop individuals. Mr. Riley has extended his interest in human performance as a lecturer for the Bermuda College, Arizona State University, Webster University and, more recently Endicott College – all, with the exception of the former, based in the United States. Mr. Riley also teaches GED math at the Westgate Correctional Facility, as well as Life-Skills, a 14-week course which he designed. In addition, Mr. Riley has facilitated a number of training courses for organisations including the Bermuda Government, the Bermuda Hospitals Board, and the Employers’ Council, among others.
Mr. Riley holds a Master’s degree in Tourism Marketing (University of Surrey, England), a Bachelor’s in Hotel Management (Cum Laude, University of New Haven, Connecticut), and a Post Graduate certificate in Survey Sampling (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor). Recently Mr. Riley became a Certified Cognitive Trainer Facilitator (National Curriculum Training Institute, USA) and holds certificates in Designing Instruction and Performance Consulting, among others.
